East Midlands Airport has appointed a new Operations Director, Lauren Turner, as it looks to an exciting future by growing its passenger and cargo operations.
Lauren joined the airport in 2013 as a security officer and has since worked in a variety of roles, including airfield security, the airport’s control room, and airfield operations supervisor. She was the only woman in her team at the time, but now half of the team is female.
Lauren’s new role involves overseeing a wide range of crucial functions, including Airfield Operations, Fire Service and Command & Control, Business Resilience, and Air Traffic Control. She is particularly keen to help restore Air Traffic Control to full strength, which has faced significant industry and global challenges since the pandemic. Several job opportunities are currently available, and a new Head of Air Traffic Control is set to begin in the new year.
Lauren’s experience and expertise make her a strong candidate for this role. She has a diploma in travel and tourism and has worked in a variety of airport roles, including security, airfield security, the airport’s control room, and airfield operations supervision. She has also led projects to increase aircraft stand capacity across all three aprons ahead of longer-term growth plans.
