The Rhenus Group, a global logistics leader, has announced three key leadership appointments as part of a strategic transformation of its Air & Ocean division, reinforcing its commitment to regional integration, growth, and customer-centric innovation.
These leadership changes position the company for scalable expansion and enhanced operational cohesion across critical markets.
Joachim Hanssen Named CEO for Asia Pacific (APAC)
Effective August 1, 2025, Joachim Hanssen has been appointed Chief Executive Officer for Asia Pacific (APAC), with additional responsibility for Greater China, Central Asia, and Turkey.
With over 20 years at Rhenus, Hanssen is credited with significantly expanding the company’s presence in Asia through a blend of operational excellence, regional insight, and cross-cultural leadership. His promotion signals a unified approach to scaling APAC operations with enhanced strategic alignment.
Alberto Martinez Appointed CEO for Europe (EU)
Starting October 1, 2025, Alberto Martinez will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer for Europe. He currently serves as Vice President Global Ocean Freight, where he led the creation of a robust global ocean freight network, expanding trade lanes and carrier alliances.
Martinez will succeed Markus Lingohr, who is set to retire in 2026. A structured leadership transition is already in progress to ensure continuity and momentum in one of Rhenus’ most vital and complex regions.
Renee Toh to Lead Global Ocean Freight Strategy
Rhenus also announced the appointment of Renee Toh as the new Vice President Global Ocean Freight, effective September 25, 2025. She succeeds Martinez in this key global role.
Toh brings over 20 years of expertise in ocean freight and procurement, most recently serving as Head of Global Ocean Freight Procurement at CEVA Logistics. She is known for her ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive commercially viable global logistics solutions.
Her appointment highlights Rhenus’ intent to strengthen its global product offerings and service excellence across international trade lanes.
