WFS Awarded Five-Year Cargo Handling Contract by Emirates SkyCargo at Frankfurt
Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), part of the SATS Group, has secured a new five-year cargo handling contract with Emirates SkyCargo at Frankfurt Airport, one of Europe’s busiest freight gateways.
This new agreement further strengthens the long-standing collaboration between Emirates and the SATS-WFS group, with WFS now providing specialized cargo gateway services at 21 locations across the airline’s global network.
Strengthening a Global Partnership at a Key Hub
Frankfurt plays a pivotal role in Emirates’ European operations, offering more than 1,400 tonnes of weekly cargo capacity through a mix of six scheduled freighter services and 21 passenger flights. The new deal sees WFS take on full handling responsibilities at the airport, delivering services tailored to the carrier’s diverse and high-value cargo mix — including pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, and heavy machinery.
“Our team at Frankfurt is committed to meeting Emirates’ exacting standards with a focus on operational excellence and specialised cargo handling,” said John Batten, CEO Gateway Services, EMEAA at WFS.
“With significant investments in pharmaceutical handling and a proven track record in time-critical logistics, we’re ready to support Emirates and their customers with secure, reliable, and efficient service.”
Enabling Growth Through Expertise
For Emirates SkyCargo, the partnership is a strategic move aimed at enhancing its European operations and ensuring seamless service in a high-volume, high-stakes market.
“Frankfurt is a cornerstone of our European network,” said Robert Fordree, Senior Vice President of Operations Worldwide at Emirates SkyCargo.
“We transport a wide variety of specialist products through this market, from life-saving medicines to precision-engineered machinery. Expanding our partnership with WFS at this key location ensures we can continue delivering world-class service and strengthen Germany’s trade links with global markets.”
Future-Focused Handling
With this contract, WFS reaffirms its position as a trusted logistics partner to some of the world’s top cargo carriers. The company’s growing pharma infrastructure, coupled with its emphasis on secure and technology-driven cargo handling, positions it to meet the evolving needs of global freight operators.
This latest win at Frankfurt underlines WFS’s commitment to delivering value across strategic trade lanes — and further cements the SATS-WFS group as a key enabler of global air cargo connectivity.
