The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has appointed Pawel Jarza as its new policy and compliance adviser for air, following the retirement of David Stroud.

BIFA stated that Jarza is already well known to its members due to his previous work in the customs sector as a frontier policy manager.

A graduate of the University of Wroclaw, Jarza holds a master’s degree in international trade relations and brings over 20 years of experience in logistics, primarily in customs compliance-focused managerial roles.

Before joining BIFA in 2022, he worked at the London Chamber of Commerce as an export documents and customs declaration officer.

Strengthening the Sustainability Team

BIFA has also reinforced its policy and compliance division by promoting Jamie McKean to policy adviser – sustainable logistics.

A law graduate from the University of Reading, McKean originally joined BIFA in 2023 as a management trainee. In his new role, he will collaborate with Mike Jones, policy & compliance adviser – sustainability & environment.

His promotion highlights the growing importance of sustainability within the freight forwarding sector.

“Jamie’s promotion demonstrates the significance of this sustainable logistics policy group and the ever-increasing importance of the issues it addresses to the work of BIFA members,” the association stated.

McKean’s appointment follows BIFA’s recent establishment of a policy group dedicated to identifying and reporting on environmental issues affecting the industry.
