Skyway Airlines Partners with Hactl for Hong Kong Freighter Services

Share

Newly launched Skyway Airlines of the Philippines has appointed Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) as its handling agent for its newly introduced freighter services to Hong Kong, catering to the growing e-commerce sector.

Hactl will provide comprehensive support, including terminal handling, ramp handling, and documentation, ensuring a seamless operation for Skyway.

Skyway’s flights will commence on March 20, utilizing its 18-tonne capacity Boeing 737-400 freighters for six weekly services—three connecting to its base at Clark International Airport and three to Manila. Hong Kong marks the airline’s first international destination.

With over 7,000 islands, the Philippines faces unique logistical challenges. Historically, domestic air cargo has relied on the belly holds of passenger aircraft. However, the rapid growth of e-commerce—fueled further by the COVID-19 pandemic—has driven demand for dedicated cargo capacity.

Skyway aims to bridge this gap, successfully linking the Philippines with the world’s busiest international airport.

Jose Angelo Peralta, President & CEO of Skyway Airlines, commented:
“Expanding internationally to Hong Kong is a major milestone for Skyway following the acquisition of our Air Operator Certificate. The one-stop service support from Hactl has been invaluable in streamlining our launch and minimizing operational challenges. We look forward to contributing to trade growth between Hong Kong and the Philippines.”

Joanna Li, Executive Director – Commercial and Business Development at Hactl, added:
“Skyway Airlines is an exciting new venture that addresses a pressing need in the Philippines. We are delighted to welcome them into our carrier network, further expanding our global connections. We wish Skyway every success with this international expansion and look forward to supporting their continued growth.”
