The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group delivered robust performance in December 2024, with passenger numbers and cargo volumes setting new records.

The group’s passenger capacity expanded by 7.1% year-on-year, while passenger traffic increased by 6.0%, resulting in an impressive passenger load factor (PLF) of 88.5%.

Singapore Airlines achieved a PLF of 88.4%, while Scoot posted a slightly higher PLF of 89.2%.

The two airlines collectively carried 3.6 million passengers in December, up 7.1% from the same month in 2023, marking a monthly record for the group.

This brought total passenger numbers for 2024 to 39 million, representing a 12.7% increase compared to 34.6 million in 2023.

On the cargo front, the group saw a 13.6% rise in cargo load, outpacing the 11.3% increase in cargo capacity.

December’s strong cargo performance was driven by year-end demand, heightened perishables traffic following China’s lifting of a ban on Australian live rock lobster imports, and robust pre-Lunar New Year shipments.

Cargo operations achieved a load factor of 53.6%, up by 1.0 percentage point year-on-year.

Notable developments in December included Scoot’s launch of passenger services to Phu Quoc in Vietnam and Singapore Airlines’ resumption of direct seasonal flights to Sapporo, Japan.

By the end of December, the SIA Group’s passenger network covered 129 destinations across 36 countries and territories, with Singapore Airlines serving 80 destinations and Scoot serving 72. On the cargo side, the network extended to 133 destinations in 37 countries.
