Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW) has successfully delivered its first Airbus A330 passenger-to-freighter (P2F) aircraft modified at the facility of its Chinese conversion partner, ST Engineering Aerospace Guangzhou Aviation Services Company.

The German conversion specialist, a joint venture between ST Engineering and Airbus, celebrated this achievement in a LinkedIn post on December 20, without disclosing the aircraft’s new operator.

“We’ve redelivered our first A330P2F converted at our Guangzhou partner facility,” EFW stated. “This aircraft, inducted in May, underwent all conversion phases seamlessly with support from our engineering teams in Dresden, Germany, and collaboration with other partners. The aircraft is now ready to embark on its new mission: carrying express cargo!”

Before this milestone, the Guangzhou team had completed 17 Airbus A321P2F conversions. EFW expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the successful completion of the project.

Expanding P2F Platforms

EFW’s P2F programs include widebody models such as the A330-200P2F, capable of carrying up to 60 tons, and the A330-300P2F, which offers a payload of 62 tons. The narrowbody A321P2F and A320P2F were introduced in 2020 and 2022, respectively.

Recent developments highlight EFW’s focus on Asia. In November, EFW signed an agreement with HNA Aviation Group to support A330P2F conversions through Grand China Aircraft Maintenance Services (GCAM). That same month, MRO Japan (MJP) partnered with EFW to provide third-party conversion services for A320P2F and A321P2F aircraft.

Additionally, EFW celebrated the redelivery of its 100th converted aircraft in China last month.

Global Conversion Network

EFW’s freighter conversion operations span multiple locations: Singapore, Shanghai, and Guangzhou in Asia; Dresden, Germany, in Europe; and Mobile, Alabama, and San Antonio, Texas, in the US.

These accomplishments cement EFW’s position as a leader in aircraft conversions, meeting growing demand for freighter capabilities worldwide.
