The Menzies Aviation-Siginon Aviation partnership has achieved IATA’s CEIV Pharma (Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics) certification for its cargo handling facility at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) in Nairobi, Kenya.

This milestone marks the seventh Menzies Aviation location to earn the certification and the first in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia (MEAA) region.

Menzies’ NBO facility joins the ranks of their IATA CEIV certified locations at Sydney (SYD), Melbourne (MEL), London Heathrow (LHR), Budapest (BUD), and Amsterdam Schiphol (AMS).

The prestigious three-year accreditation is awarded to companies that meet IATA’s rigorous standards for handling high-value, time-sensitive, and temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products.

This certification follows a significant investment in Menzies’ NBO cargo facilities. The facility has expanded from 15,000 sq m to 21,000 sq m, enhancing its capabilities with increased cold room space and new docking stations for refrigerated trucks, thereby boosting its capacity to handle medical and pharmaceutical products.

Additionally, a new yard area has been constructed to improve traffic flow management, and enhanced security measures, including additional cameras and lighting, have been implemented.

Charles Wyley, Executive Vice President Middle East, Africa, and Asia, Menzies Aviation, said: “We’re immensely proud that our expanded warehouse at NBO has become the first cargo facility in the MEAA region to receive IATA’s coveted CEIV Pharma accreditation.

“NBO joins a growing list of Menzies cargo locations awarded this sought-after recognition. With pharmaceutical shipment volumes continuing to increase globally, we are committed to meeting demand effectively while upholding the highest cargo handling standards required by this accreditation.”
