Levu Air Cargo, Brazil’s newest cargo airline, has officially launched operations and achieved a significant milestone as the first airline in Latin America to operate an Airbus A321 Freighter (A321F). This new venture begins in partnership with DHL Express, utilizing an A321F dry-leased from SmartLynx Airlines to enhance express cargo services within Brazil and internationally.
Levu Air Cargo proudly marked its inaugural commercial flight on November 13, sharing the news on social media: “Thrilled to share a historic moment: Levu’s first commercial flight! We are immensely proud to be the first airline to operate with an A321 freighter in Latin America.”
In the six months leading up to this launch, Levu Air Cargo completed rigorous registration and certification processes. The airline registered the A321F with Brazil’s National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) and obtained its air operator’s certificate (AOC). Following Brazilian certification, Levu began the process of securing additional approvals from European (EASA) and U.S. (FAA and DOT) aviation authorities to expand its international operations.
The A321F, known for its unique ability to carry containerized cargo on both main and lower decks, offers substantial advantages in efficiency and turnover times. The freighter is capable of handling a wide range of cargo types, including dangerous goods, making it an ideal solution for the varied shipping needs of Levu Air Cargo’s clientele across Latin America.
Levu’s main headquarters is located in Campinas, a strategic logistics hub, with additional bases in Recife, Belém, and Manaus. This network allows the airline to serve key markets across Brazil. Additionally, Levu is set to expand its capabilities further with the planned delivery of an Airbus A330 Freighter by the end of this year.
SmartLynx Airlines, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, operates a diverse fleet including the A320, A321, A321F, A330, and Boeing 737 MAX 8, making it a key player in providing leased aircraft for global cargo and passenger operations.
