LATAM Cargo Group has expanded its Miami-São José dos Campos cargo route, increasing the frequency from two to three weekly flights. This change boosts the route’s capacity by 50%, now exceeding 150 tons of cargo transported weekly between the U.S. and São Paulo’s interior. The flights will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays using Boeing 767-300F freighters, each capable of carrying over 50 tons.
Otávio Meneguette, Commercial Director of LATAM Cargo Brazil, expressed satisfaction with the expansion, emphasizing its significance for the industrial sector in São José dos Campos and the São Paulo interior. The route is crucial for importing supplies and electronic equipment essential to the Vale do Paraíba industrial chain, enhancing connectivity through the Miami hub, which also serves cargo from Europe.
São José dos Campos Airport is strategically located in Brazil’s second-largest industrial hub, the Vale do Paraíba region. It has the third-longest runway in the state and a modernized cargo terminal, benefiting industries by lowering import costs and providing competitive advantages.
In 2023, LATAM Cargo Group launched several international routes, including Miami-São José dos Campos, Miami-Brasília, and Amsterdam-Curitiba, and increased the frequency of the Miami-Florianópolis route. In April 2024, they doubled capacity in Pará’s capital with the new Guarulhos-Belém-Manaus route and added freighter flights to Manaus. They also introduced a Europe-Florianópolis route, facilitating cargo transport between Europe and Santa Catarina.
In May, LATAM inaugurated the domestic Guarulhos-Recife-Manaus route, significantly increasing capacity in Pernambuco’s capital. All these operations utilize Boeing 767-300F aircraft, maintaining a capacity of over 50 tons per flight.
Additionally, LATAM Cargo Brazil launched a new product portfolio for domestic flights, offering four new services with specific care options to enhance the cargo transportation experience within the country.
