Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has restructured its executive management as Chief Operating Officer Jens Wollesen prepares to depart at year’s end to prioritize personal matters. Wollesen, who has managed all product areas and served on the management board, will leave a legacy of strategic direction and growth during his tenure.
In line with Hellmann’s strategic focus on customer-centric and market-driven approaches, the company will split Wollesen’s responsibilities between two newly appointed COOs, each overseeing three key product areas. These roles will complement the leadership of CEO Jens Drewes and CFO Martin Eberle on the management board.
Stefan Borggreve, currently Chief Digital Officer and a management board member, will transition to Chief Operating Officer for Road, Rail, and CEP (Courier, Express, Parcel) products. Borggreve’s new responsibilities will include driving expansion and transformation across these areas, while continuing his leadership on digital innovation, IT, and sustainability.
Additionally, Madhav Kurup, the Regional CEO for IMEA based in Dubai, will join the management board as Chief Operating Officer for Airfreight, Seafreight, and Contract Logistics. Alongside product COOs at the International Executive Board (IEB) level, Kurup will spearhead global strategic initiatives and joint ventures within these segments. Kurup brings a wealth of strategic expertise and growth leadership, and his appointment reflects Hellmann’s commitment to a diverse and globally inclusive management board. Kurup will also continue to lead the IMEA region on an interim basis.
Chairman of the Supervisory Board Thomas Lieb expressed gratitude for Wollesen’s contributions, stating, “We want to thank Jens Wollesen for his exceptional dedication, which has been instrumental in advancing Hellmann’s success.”
Additional changes will also occur at the IEB level. Jonathan Adeoye, currently COO for Road Germany and West Europe, will take on the role of COO for Road with a global focus at the IEB, aiming to bolster Hellmann’s European market presence.
The updated leadership structure, effective in January, positions Hellmann for its next phase of expansion. In recent years, the company has laid the groundwork for sustainable growth through a new organizational structure, substantial IT and digital investments, and a reinvigorated corporate culture.
Under CEO Drewes, who assumed leadership in June, Hellmann now aims to expand its market share across all product areas. Lieb emphasized this vision: “Hellmann’s recent performance confirms its solid foundation. Now is the time to unlock its full potential and grow globally, not only in Europe. The new appointments set the stage for this expansion, and I look forward to working with the team to lead Hellmann into the next growth phase.”
