Fraport AG has released its January 2025 traffic figures, revealing a decline in cargo volumes and aircraft movements, while passenger numbers saw slight growth across its global airport network.

Cargo Volumes Decline

Freight traffic at Frankfurt Airport (FRA) fell 3.9% year-on-year, with 148,321 metric tons handled in January. The drop reflects ongoing challenges in the global air cargo market.

Aircraft Movements Slightly Down

The number of takeoffs and landings remained steady, with a 0.4% decrease to 30,938 movements. Additionally, maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) declined 1.0% to approximately 2.0 million metric tons compared to January 2024.

Passenger Traffic Sees Modest Growth

Despite cargo declines, passenger traffic across all Fraport-managed airports increased 0.7% year-on-year, reaching 9.0 million travellers in January 2025.

The report highlights resilient passenger demand, even as air cargo and operational metrics face moderate declines.
