Etihad partners with Lödige Industries for advanced cargo system at Zayed International Airport

Etihad Airport Services – Cargo LLC has signed a landmark agreement with Lödige Industries to deliver a state-of-the-art Material Handling System (MHS) for the East Midfield Cargo Terminal at Zayed International Airport, Abu Dhabi. The project represents a major step forward in enhancing the Emirate’s global standing in logistics and air cargo.

High-tech upgrade to boost cargo handling

Set to become one of the largest and most advanced cargo handling systems in the region, the new MHS will enable faster, more efficient, and scalable operations, helping Etihad meet growing air freight demand and streamline throughput.

The agreement was formally signed by Jubran AlBreiki, CEO of Etihad Airport Services – Cargo LLC, and Guy Walker, representing Lödige Systems, during a ceremony at Zayed International Airport.

Sustainability and automation at the core

The new terminal will benefit from energy-efficient systems, automation technologies, and advanced digital control infrastructure, ensuring streamlined cargo flows and contributing to Abu Dhabi’s sustainability and efficiency goals.

“The state-of-the-art East Midfield Cargo Terminal will position Etihad Airport Services – Cargo LLC as a best-in-class provider of cargo and logistics services,” said Jubran AlBreiki.
“By using this new energy-efficient system paired with cutting-edge automation technologies and digital control systems, it will ensure faster and more efficient cargo flows, contributing to our shared vision for sustainable aviation logistics.”

A key piece in Abu Dhabi’s logistics future

The project is part of a wider strategy to modernize air cargo handling at Zayed International Airport and aligns with Abu Dhabi’s long-term economic and logistics vision. The upgraded infrastructure is expected to bolster the Emirate’s role as a regional logistics powerhouse and cater to the rapidly evolving demands of global trade.
