Changi Airport Sees Strong Cargo Growth in 2024

Singapore Changi Airport recorded significant growth across all cargo flows in 2024, including exports, imports, and transhipments.

This expansion was fuelled by substantial improvements in cargo movement between Singapore and its key trading partners, China and the United States.

The growth was further supported by the recovery of Singapore’s electronics exports and re-exports, alongside strong global demand for cross-border e-commerce shipments.

Additionally, disruptions in maritime transport led to a modal shift from ocean to air freight, boosting Changi’s cargo operations.

For the year, the airport’s top five air cargo markets were China, Australia, the United States, Hong Kong, and India, solidifying Changi’s position as a critical hub for international trade and logistics.

Mr Yam Kum Weng, chief executive officer of Changi Airport Group, said, “We witnessed a year of strong growth in passenger and cargo traffic as well as connectivity in 2024.

“Changi added a bumper crop of 11 new city links, strengthening the air hub’s network and opening up a world of new destinations to support business ties and for travellers to explore.

“We are deeply grateful for the close partnership with our airline partners and are pleased to welcome the new airlines to Changi. Their collaboration has been instrumental in driving this growth.
