Dubai-based logistics specialist CargoCrew has appointed experienced air cargo executive Yaren as its new Commercial Director as the company looks to expand its presence in the global freight market.
CargoCrew, which provides freight and logistics services to airlines, freight forwarders and shippers, confirmed that Yaren joined the company this month at its headquarters in Dubai.
The appointment comes as demand for specialised air cargo and logistics expertise continues to grow amid ongoing changes in global supply chains and international freight operations.
Yaren brings around 15 years of industry experience to the role, having held senior commercial, pricing and procurement positions across several major aviation and logistics companies.
Most recently, he worked at Qatar Airways as cargo pricing manager, where he oversaw pricing functions across the airline’s global cargo network.
His responsibilities included implementing pricing policies and supporting worldwide sales teams in developing pricing strategies aimed at maximising commercial performance.
Before joining Qatar Airways, Yaren spent five years at logistics firm Geodis, where he eventually became regional air pricing manager for Europe.
He has also held roles at Toll Global Forwarding in technology sales, airfreight procurement and pricing, in addition to previous experience in marketing and sales at Turkish Airlines.
Announcing the move in a LinkedIn post published on 11 May, Yaren described his departure from Qatar Airways as the beginning of “a new chapter”.
“After an incredible two-year journey with Qatar Airways, it is time for a new chapter,” he wrote.
He thanked colleagues and senior leadership at Qatar Airways Cargo for their support and said the experience had contributed significantly to both his professional and personal development.
Yaren added that CargoCrew’s “vision, entrepreneurial mindset and strong industry experience” had particularly attracted him to the company.
The executive said he was looking forward to helping drive the company’s next phase of growth alongside its Dubai-based team.
The appointment reflects increasing competition within the global cargo and logistics sector, as companies seek experienced executives capable of navigating volatile freight markets, shifting trade patterns and continued pressure on air cargo pricing.
Dubai has emerged as one of the world’s leading logistics and aviation hubs in recent years, benefiting from its strategic location between Europe, Asia and Africa and the continued expansion of Gulf-based aviation operators.
