Beluga XL Arrives at Munich Airport

Share

The BelugaXL, a giant freighter, will make regular visits to Munich Airport over the first five weeks of the year. Based on the Airbus A330-200F, the BelugaXL is named for its whale-like appearance and primarily transports aircraft components between Airbus production sites. During its stay at Munich Airport, it will be used to transport A350 fuselage sections, known as “side shells,” from Augsburg to the Airbus facility in Hamburg-Finkenwerder.

With its distinctive shape, a wingspan of nearly 61 meters, and a height of around 20 meters, the BelugaXL is a striking sight for aviation enthusiasts. The operation highlights Bavaria’s significant role in air traffic and the aircraft manufacturing industry.

Aviation fans can catch the BelugaXL at Munich Airport on January 23, 29, and 31, with the aircraft arriving around midday and departing for Hamburg in the afternoon.
